Balanced Differential Inputs
Differential inputs eliminate noise picked up by signal cables.
Differential input circuitry measures the voltage of both the (+) and (-) input signal. The circuitry subtracts the voltage common to both conductors (noise) resulting in only the clean signal. This allows only clean signal to enter the amplifier.
Dynamic Thermal Management evenly distributes excess heat across entire amplifier heatsink.
The engineers at Rockford Fosgate have developed an award winning cooling design called DTM (Dynamic Thermal Management). This proprietary design seamlessly manages the output of power supply temperatures, while evenly distributing the excess heat across the entire amplifier.
Heat is often inefficiently dissipated across a heatsink causing “hot spots”. This impacts important design goals, which are:
- Maximizing potential of all components.
- Reducing distortion for better sound quality.
- Increasing efficiency to produce more power.
DSM utilize 1% tight-tolerances improving efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components and lowers operating temperature.
DSM – An industry-leading manufacturing process, DSM utilizes high-speed robotics, high-quality 1% tight-tolerance parts and large board traces. The discrete components are laser etched to meet a particular value and a very low tolerance. This lower tolerance improves the efficiency of the circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components and lowers operating temperature. These superior components are used by aerospace, automotive, and cellular manufacturers.

NOMAD is a “real time” analog computer that protects your amplifier from shorting speaker wires and dangerously low speaker impedances.
This circuitry deals with the output stage protection in a Rockford Fosgate amplifier.
You see, Rockford Fosgate think a good protection circuit is one that keeps your amp from going up in flames when the speaker wires touch together at full power, but won’t shut down if the impedance of the load happens to dive when you are hammering your woofers.
The NOMAD circuit accomplishes just that. It’s a totally new and very high tech method of dealing with device current and voltage parameters, without being affected by other factors such as heat.
Rockford Fosgate’s approach to “real time” protection is one that uses a mathematical transformation which eliminates the problems encountered with trying to do real time multiplication of instantaneous device voltage and current.
Essentially an analog computer calculates at each instant, the maximum allowable level of safe current for each output device, based on their instantaneous voltage drop.
This allows the protection to be much more precise than ever before, and ensures reliability.

MEHSA3 reduces MOSFET temperatures, lowers distortion, increases durability and prolongs the output device life span.
MEHSA3 (Maximum Efficiency Heat Sink Application – gen. 3) is a proprietary process that yields up to five times better heat transfer than traditional FET mounting techniques, using the exact same components.
A multi-layer insulated metal substrate operating with minimal thermal resistance spreads heat both downward & outward to quickly dissipate heat from each device across the heatsink.
This process combined with Rockford Fosgate’s optimized heatsink designs, DSM (Discrete Surface Mount) technology and MOSFET devices, allows Rockford Fosgate to squeeze more watts per cubic inch from every output device as well as provide consistent thermal stability.
The 3rd generation creates a dielectric layer between the ceramic topside and the aluminum base that retains all of the electrical isolation and capacitive coupling of the original MEHSA material increasing it’s thermal conductivity.
The higher power handling results in a 20% reduction in thermal impedance.
Power ratings on Rockford Fosgate amplifiers conform to CEA-2006 industry standards. These guidelines mean your amplifier’s output power ratings are REAL POWER numbers, not inflated marketing ratings.

This product fulfills all essential safety and environmental requirements as defined in the European Directives (768/2008 EC).
The CE mark is the official marking required by the European Community for all Electrical and Electronic equipment (and others) that will be sold, or put into service for the first time, anywhere in the European community.
It proves to the authorities, but also to the buyer -or user- that this product fulfills all essential safety and environmental requirements as they are defined in the so-called European Directives.
The ce marking directive (93/68/EEC) was adopted on 07-22-1993 and updated as 768/2008 EC on 13-8-2008.
The directive gives a detailed description of the initials CE and any other marks specific to a particular directive and the many ways conformity may be acquired.
In return for fulfilling the CE marking requirements, the manufacturer or its agent gets the permission to cover the entire European market using only one approval procedure for the topics covered in the applicable directives.
No member state of the European Community can refuse trade of any (electronic or electrical) product that has been CE marked (unless fraud suspected). For some products however, national regulations exist, as long as the requirements covered in these national regulations are not covered by a pan-European Directive.

UV Inhibitor Materials – Centrex and ASA plastic materials are used for their UV radiation resistance and components are tested in accordance with ASTM D4329 testing and certification procedures.
Corrosion Protection (Electronics) – Two part epoxy coated PCB boards prevent corrosion of critical components due to exposure in moisture rich environments.
Stainless Hardware – Stainless hardware is used due to its natural resistance to corrosion and rusting. This ensures that electrical connections will not degrade over time due to exposure to the elements.
