Portable Satellite Dish

Out of stock

We all like to travel as far as we can from home to be away from it all.  To enjoy everything that Australia offers.  The great outdoors is simply the best.

For those of you spending a lot of time on the road, who like to catch up with the odd show now and then,  it’s nice to have access to TV.

If you already subscribe to Pay TV then why not bring your decoder along and access all of your favourite channels like Discovery, BBC World News and National Geographic while on your camping trip?

SatPlus MiniMax Portable Satellite System

The MINIMAX PORTABLE SATELLITE KIT – Mobile Pay TV Satellite Kit is a complete system that, when connected to your pay TV decoder such as Foxtel or Austar, will enable you to access all of the channels you subscribe to at home, while on the road.

It’s that simple.  Providing your pay TV service is via satellite at home then it’ll work perfectly virtually everywhere in Australia   (will not work with cable decoders).

SatPlus’s new Minimax75 V2 dish is now offered with this system. Featuring rolled edge reflector of dimensions 75cm x 83cm, it’ll work everywhere in Australia.

It packs down easily to a flat pack and folds neatly away into its included padded carry bag.

Folding LNB arm on the front makes setup time very quick.

As you travel East or West, North or South, you’ll need to adjust the elevation of the dish and we supply a comprehensive manual that provides this information.  Adjusting the elevation of the MiniMax V2 dish is easy.

The LNB (amplifier on the front of the dish) is compatible with Austar and Foxtel and has a single cable wired from the dish.  This is suitable for all standard pay TV boxes and is included with this kit.  However, if you have MyStar or Foxtel IQ, you will require a twin output LNB with 2 cables coming from the dish and connected to your MyStar or Foxtel IQ decoder inside the van.   Please choose this option from above.  When you choose the twin LNB option, we’ll also upgrade the external coaxial cable (shown down the page) from a single 10m cable to a siamese twin 10m cable.

You’ll need to align your satellite dish to the satellite and to do this we include a needle and tone satellite finder as standard.  This is a basic meter as sold by most other satellite companies and does require a little patience and understanding to get the dish aligned correctly.  The meter is connected inline and gets its power from the connected coaxial cable coming from the van. A sensitivity dial is adjusted on the side of the finder and the dish is rotated until a signal is found.  This is indicated by a rise of the needle on the display.  If the needle goes off the scale, it can be adjusted lower and the dish fine tuned for maximum signal.  If no signal is being received by the decoder inside the van, then you may be on the wrong satellite.  Repeat the above until the next satellite is found. Recommended if you’ve owned a system in the past and are familiar with this type of meter.

Supplied as standard, RG6 quad shield cable @ 10 metre length.  This is to connect from your satellite dish to the caravan wallplate.  Our cable is professional grade as used by pay TV installers.  Each end is fitted with weatherproof compression fittings by us.  As SatPlus also fit their dishes with a short coaxial cable used to connect the meter, also included are cable joiners for when the meter has been removed.  If you’ve chosen the twin LNB option above then a twin, siamese coaxial cable will be supplied.  This is 10 metres in length and is two cables in one.

A basic compass is supplied with our system.  You don’t need to be a scouts captain to align a dish. The compass is used as a reference to North.  When you read through our instruction manual, you’ll notice that the direction charts relate to North.

You’ll need a way to connect that external coaxial cable in through your van wall.  Sound In Motion can supply a SatPlus EziPlate weatherproof wall fitting that is easy and neat to install.  The EziPlate can adjust to wall thicknesses up to 35mm and is a direct, no loss connection from outside to in.  You may already have something similar but unless it is a direct connection from outside to in with no joins or splitter in between then it will not work.

This is an optional add on and can be chosen up the top of page near the add to cart button.  If you do add on this plate, we’ll also include an internal 1.5m coaxial cable to connect from the inside plate to the VAST decoder. Choose the Single EziPlate option if you have the basic pay TV decoder (no recording).

If you have Foxtel IQ or MyStar decoders (able to record the programs) and you require this wallplate, choose the EziPlate TWIN option from above.  If you choose the Twin EziPlate, we’ll include the twin 1.5m siamese internal cable too.
